Today, I am reviewing the “Estee Lauder 'Double Wear' Stay-in-Place Makeup SPF 10”. I would like to start the review with a little introduction to Estee Lauder brand.
Estée Lauder founded her company in 1946 armed with four products and with an unshakeable belief that every woman can be beautiful. Today, more than 60 years later, that simple notion has literally changed the face of the beauty business.
Born Josephine Esther Mentzer, Estée Lauder was raised in Corona, Queens, by her Hungarian mother, Rose, and Czech father, Max. The name Estée was a variation on her family nickname, Esty. Always interested in beauty, she was mentored by her uncle, chemist John Schotz, and began her business by selling skin care products to beauty salons and hotels.
Mrs. Lauder said “I want to show as many women as I can reach, not only how to be beautiful, but how to stay beautiful.”
Estee Lauder 'Double Wear' Stay-in-Place Makeup SPF 10 Brief:
With Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation I've been enjoying full coverage over my skin. It keeps my skin looking fantabulous, breathing comfortably through heat, humidity and activity without the color changing, fading or coming off on clothes. It’s meant for all skin types. It gives a Natural Matte Finish and has SPF10 sunscreen to protect the skin.
It's pretty simple and standard. Estee Lauder foundations come packaged in a cute royal blue box. The product comes in a glass bottle so I can say this is not travel friendly. There is no pump so you have to tip the bottle. Please be careful while tipping because I always end up dispensing more product than I need.
The formulation is very fluidic and quite thick to smooth across the skin with a finger. I would recommend using a buffing brush to get a smooth finish. But I use a foundation brush instead of buffing brush. Its a highly pigmented foundation. The finish may be a little heavy for some, but it depends on how much you apply and how well you blend it. Within a few seconds of application the liquid formula leaves a matte finish. To avoid this I would suggest applying a moisturizing base prior to the foundation.
I bought 3N1 Ivory Beige shade because it suited my complexion to the core. It's very crucial to find the right shade that matches your skin-tone. Sheer foundations are usually more forgiving, but with full coverage foundations, you might end up looking like you're wearing a "mask" of makeup. So to avoid this, you really need to take the time at your local counter in finding the closest shade matching your skin tone. There are 24 shades in total from this range.
Swatches of 3N1 Ivory Beige:
It provides medium to full coverage. With one layer it covers just about everything, including light sun spots and blemishes.
This has been my perfect foundation over the last few months among all the foundations I have used: Revlon Colourstay SPF 6 240 Medium Beige, Rimmel London100 Ivory and Loreal True Match W3 Beige and No 7 Restore and Renew Foundation. Must say this one is the best . It's perfect for me, in terms of coverage, lasting power and finish .This foundation really covers everything without looking like a mask. I love the natural finish that it gives, which is slightly more matte but still looks flawless. If you wish to, you can add any shimmer powder. Overall, this is the perfect foundation if you like medium to full coverage which stays all day. You only need a small amount and once buffed in, it creates a natural base which lasts all day.
You can see the effect of Double wear foundation in my picture below.
- It provides medium to full coverage that looks natural when it's not over-applied.
- It endures heat and sweat like a champion and doesn't transfer as easy as most of my other foundations.
- It also stays intact till the moment I go to sleep, so it deserves an A+ for lasting power.
- 15-hour staying power.
- The flawless look you see in the morning is the look you keep all day.
- Won't change color, smudge or come off on clothes.
- Feels lightweight and comfortable.
- Good ranges of shades.
- If you apply too much of this foundation, it can look unnatural so I recommend using a buffing brush to get a smooth and an awesome finishing. The finish may be a little heavy for some still, but it depends how much you apply and how well you blend.
- A bit costly.
- This foundation is water resistant; some people may find that it's difficult to remove. You can use a cleanser and add some oil (olive oil, baby oil) to remove it. Also, Garnier Skin Naturals Simply Essentials Facial Cleansing Wipes or Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes available in amazon can be used. I used makeup remover wipes most of the time.
Product Quantity: 30 ml
Price: £27.50 from boots and £26.50 from Debenhams
Overall rating: 9/10
This Double wear foundation has high rating for all skin types and more beneficial to combination- oily skin type, because of it’s close to matte finish and long-wearing abilities. But if you can find your color match in this foundation, I won't doubt that you're going to love this foundation. I think some are very quick to say or label this foundation as too heavy or too fake. But I can say that with any pigmented foundation you don’t need as much product as with a lighter coverage foundation. Always start out with less than you think you're going to need and build if necessary. Starting out with too much at once will only set you up for a disaster. You will get good ranges of shades in this one and you can easily get it on Boots, Debenhams, Estee lauder, John Lewis and EBay websites.
Hope you enjoyed reading my review…your comments/suggestions are most welcome. Thanks!!!
